FCM Players donate DKK 27.000 to the FCM Community

The players of the Danish champions donated DKK 1,000 for each goal scored during October, November and December. That was 27 goals and thus a nice donation, which went unrestricted to FCM Samfund‘s Christmas project. FC Midtjylland scored 27 goals in the last quarter of the year. They were divided into four goals in the Champions League, 21 in the 3F Superligaen and two goals in the cup tournament. Anders Dreyer currently tops the season’s top scorers list with eight goals.

For all these goals, the squad donated DKK 1,000 each to FCM Samfunds’ Christmas gift project, which distributes Christmas presents to families with limited financial means. Before Christmas, the FCM players drove out to some of the families with the Christmas presents, as they have done for the past three years. As always, the squad has shown great interest and willingness to help FCM Society and make a difference to the many families and children.

FCM COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS PROJECT

Every year in December, FCM Samfund delivers Christmas presents to children and young people from families in financial need. Players, volunteers, board members, staff and business partners deliver the gifts, which include tracksuits, sports bags, football boots from Nike as well as towels, a ticket to a 3F Superliga match and most importantly, the opportunity for a year’s free membership and subscription to a local football club. In cooperation with DGI, the local club can apply for a grant towards the subscription, so that each child has the opportunity to join the local club, meet friends and be part of a local community and the community of the football club. FCM Samfunds’ work with the distribution of Christmas gifts aims to help families in a financially strained situation around Christmas. The aim is to give as many children and young people as possible access to a football club where they can meet strong social relationships and communities – meeting new friends and contributing to a strong local community.

IT MEANS A LOT TO GIVE BACK

“For a number of years now, we have had a tradition of donating DKK 1,000 for every goal we score in October, November and December. It means a lot to us to be able to give back, and here in the form of financial support. We hope the FCM Society can benefit from it and the many people who need a supporting hand. […] This can be a critical time for many families and we are determined to help in any way we can, we hope many of our fans will help us too. We, in FCM, are one big family and everyone who is part of that family, we have to take care of. It means a lot to us.”

On-field captain and FCM Samfund board member Erik Sviatchenko

“We are incredibly honoured that the Superliga players have once again chosen to donate to FCM Samfund. The support of the players and our partners is crucial for us to be able to give Christmas presents to the children. […] It is a fantastic experience to see some of the children who receive the gifts light up. It’s even cooler to see them out in the local clubs, where many of them get their first chance to participate in football, the social community and the local community.”

Preben Rokkjær, Marketing- & Support Director of FC Midtjylland

With the 27 goals scored by FC Midtjylland in the last quarter of 2020, there was an extra DKK 27,000 for FCM Society’s Christmas gift project.
