FC EMMEN NAOBERSCHAP FOUNDATION – TWO SOCIAL PROJECTS MEET ON AND OFF THE FIELD
The participants of the social projects Talenten van de Toekomst (Talents of the Future) and Scoren in Drenthe (Scoring in Drenthe) took an important step during a business event. On Wednesday 14 June, participants from both projects had the chance to play against each other at De Oude Meerdijk and compete against Naobers from FC Emmen Naoberschap. The aim of this afternoon was to bring young people and young adults into contact with partners from the business community in an approachable and informal way.
Battle on the field
The afternoon started with a reception at FC Emmen’s stadium. Here, the first participants already got to know each other. The programme continued on the artificial turf of De Oude Meerdijk. Here, five teams played against each other in 20-minute matches. The young people from Scoren in Drenthe participated with two teams, Talenten van de Toekomst was represented with a team and two business teams were also present. On the pitch and in between matches, mutual conversations and new contacts were already being made.
Network Building
The participants of the social projects had met the FC Emmen Naoberschap partners present on the pitch, in a sporty and informal way. After playing football, they enjoyed an extensive buffet in the stadium. Divided over different tables, all attendees sat randomly to have new conversations and gain insights. This gave Naobers a chance to get a better idea of what kind of participants are involved in social projects. The young people were able to network and orientate where their interests lie in the employment field. FC Emmen Naoberschap hereby uses the power of football to create connections.
About Talents of the Future
Over a 16-week period, the Talents of the Future participants will work on their own development and set goals. They do this by getting involved socially in their region, during which, the young people work together a lot and get to know new people. Additionally, a lot of attention is paid to individual development. Talents of the Future is an optional subject in the pupils’ curriculum.
About Scoring in Drenthe
During Scoring in Drenthe, adolescents and young adults work on their own development. For 24 weeks, they participate in group meetings and (football) training sessions. Every week, a group meeting led by USG Restart job coaches and two (football) training sessions led by FC Emmen Naoberschap are scheduled. After completing the first sixteen weeks, participants move on to the continuation of Scoring in Drenthe, where the focus is then shifted to finding a suitable job, work experience or training.
