FC Emmen G-Footballers Shine Again in the Special Eredivisie
Just like in previous seasons, FC Emmen‘s youngest G-footballers are participating in the Special Eredivisie. The Special Eredivisie is a football league dedicated to individuals with disabilities, specifically children in this context. It provides an opportunity for children with disabilities to participate in organized football matches and live their dream of playing for their favorite club, just like children without disabilities. It’s a platform that makes this dream a reality for them, fostering inclusion and enabling them to enjoy the beautiful game of football.
On October 1st, a new season of the Special Eredivisie competition kicked off at SC Cambuur in Leeuwarden. FC Emmen was also part of it, facing the G-football teams of Ajax and ADO Den Haag. The feeling was good right from the start of the day, as they had the opportunity to get ready in the Fred Grim Changing Room at Cambuur.
In the first match against Ajax, there was a significant difference in strength. FC Emmen dominated the entire game. They were able to reflect this in the score, winning by a remarkable 7-0 in favor of Emmen. The standout players were Wes Veenstra and Keano Sikken, as they both found the net twice. In addition, Dominik Nieckula, Fleur Peters, and Ruben Willems also scored a goal.
With a significant victory in hand, FC Emmen played the second match against ADO Den Haag. Once again, FC Emmen proved to be too strong for their opponent. Just like against Ajax, the team, led by coaches Gert Willems and Jan Dijkgraaf, scored freely. Keano Sikken was once again responsible for two goals, and Ruben Willems also managed to beat the Hague goalkeeper twice. The other goals were scored by Annelie Kluitenberg, Damian Boekelo, Dominik Nieckula, and Wes Veenstra.
On November 12th, FC Emmen’s G-football team will be back in action in the Special Eredivisie. The team will travel to Groningen for a round of matches at the local FC, where they will face FC Groningen and AZ Alkmaar.
