Everton FC joins Show Racism the Red Card Europe campaign

Our member Everton FC has joined the Show Racism the Red Card campaign and published a photo with the first team.

The campaign is part of the Show Racism the Red Card Europe anti-racism and anti-discrimination programme delivered by EFDN, Brentford FC Community Sports Trust, Chelsea FC Foundation, Club Brugge Foundation, Inter Campus, Rangers Charity Foundation, Fundacao Benfica, SV Werder Bremen, and project partner Geef Racisme de Rode Kaart. Show Racism the Red Card utilises the social power of football and the high-profile status of football players to help tackle racism and other forms of discrimination in society. The project aims to raise awareness of diversity, foster social cohesion, and reduce physical and verbal violence linked to racism.

Together with our partners, we have developed the #DiversityWins educational programme and resources. The workbooks and teacher’s manuals are directed at addressing racism and other forms of discrimination in society. The workbook consists of six chapters that correspond with six lessons. The different chapters address the definition of racism, differences and similarities between us, prejudice, religion, LGBT+, and racism and discrimination in sport. The workbook and teacher’s manuals include fun and educative exercises that provide children a better understanding of racism and other forms of discrimination. By the end of the project, over 10.000 children aged 7 to 15 will have benefited from the project in their school.
