ERIK LAMELA INSPIRING TOTTENHAM RESIDENTS TO LEAD A HEALTHIER LIFE

Erik Lamela visited ‘Shape Up With Spurs’, a 10-week exercise and nutrition programme designed to help local people who are above a healthy weight get fit, lose weight and feel great.

The Argentine international joined participants in a circuits session and an interactive discussion looking at the importance of healthy eating and nutrition. ‘Shape Up With Spurs’ is one of Tottenham Hotspur Foundation’s health and wellbeing programmes designed to improve the physical and mental health of people living in the local area. The programmes are designed to target hard to reach audiences in a range of preventative, rehabilitation and health improvement initiatives.

Erik Lamela said: “It has been brilliant to see how the Club’s Foundation is supporting local people to help improve their health and wellbeing. As a professional footballer, keeping fit and healthy is an everyday part of my life, but it’s not easy for everyone. I am pleased that I got the opportunity to see first-hand the work that the Club is doing in the local area to help people improve their physical and mental health.”

Jackie Dublin, local resident and ‘Shape Up With Spurs’ participant, said: “Before I started the ‘Shape Up With Spurs’ programme, I suffered with high cholesterol and was overweight. The sessions have helped me to lose weight, maintain a healthier diet and meet people from my local community. I have seen a great improvement in my health and I am more determined than ever to continue my journey to be a healthier and fitter individual.”
