EiTC Youth Engagement brought to life with spoken-word video
Everton in the Community’s life-changing impact on young people across Merseyside has been brought to life in the form of a spoken-word video to mark 35 years of the charity making a difference across the region.
The video provides a unique take on EitC’s youth engagement provision through the eyes and ears of Everton in the Community participants and staff, many of whom feature in the piece. The film reiterates Everton in the Community’s reach across Merseyside with various locations where the charity has made significant impact over the years featured thanks to significant funding from the Premier League and Steve Morgan Foundation.
While the residents across L4 will recognise some of the sights documented in the piece, the locations also reflect the ongoing support of key partner, Steve Morgan Foundation, with filming taking place at Calderstones High School, just one of the schools which sees EitC deliver the ‘Impact Model’ in the Speke-Garston area. The ‘Steve Morgan Foundation Impact Model’ is an intervention strategy centred around providing engagement, education support and pathways across school and community settings in the Speke-Garston area.
Many of its flagship programmes such as PL Inspires and Premier League Primary Stars are funded by the Premier League who enable the charity to sustain and develop its provision to some of the most vulnerable young people in Merseyside.
Other notable additions include Everton in the Community’s Digital Skills Lab – aimed at tackling the widening skills gap for young people, and the ‘Home Is Where The Heart Is’ residence which enables Everton in the Community to support young people who are on the cusp of homelessness, not to mention the ‘bright white lights’ of Everton’s spiritual home, Goodison Park.
“We have been helping to shape and change the lives of underrepresented young people in our city for more than 35 years, empowering them to grasp the opportunities that we create for them. We are incredibly proud of this video – we were keen to tell the story of our young people from their perspective and bring their words to life. On behalf of everyone at Everton in the Community I’d like to thank the Premier League and Steve Morgan Foundation for their continued support and thank-you to Ludovico for understanding our vision and investing so much time in educating our young people and guiding them so patiently through the process of video production.”
Sue Gregory, CEO at Everton in the Community
The video was created by Warrington-based production company Ludovico Media. Led by actor and producer Darren Jeffries, Ludovico work to create remarkable and progressive film, documentaries and online content and worked closely with Everton in the Community staff and its young people to produce an edit which effectively and emotively tells the story of the charity’s impact throughout the city.
