EFDN welcomes Standard de Liège as a new member
EFDN is delighted to announce Standard de Liège as a new member of the network. The Belgian club is committed to its local community and uses football as a tool for development.
Standard has been present at the social level for the past 10 years. For Standard, as a major club in Belgium, it’s important to support people in the community no matter their origin, their situation or their disability. Standard wants to be accessible to everyone. The club works in close collaboration with Standard de Liège Foundation which exists since 2018. The community programmes mainly address the social issues education, social cohesion, employability and inclusion of disabled people.
The club combines football and educational activities. Twice a week, the press local is open for the children for additional lessons with volunteer teachers. Furthermore, Standard supports its Homeless team and Blind Football teams. The club supplies electric cars of a hospital and players and staff visit patients during Christmas time.
Standard de Liège enter the network to share their own experiences, learn from other clubs and improve their impact in the community. Furthermore, Standard wants to gain insights into the structures and activities of other clubs as the organisational structure of the club’s community work is still new.
