EFDN welcomes Liechtensteiner FA to the Network!
Liechtensteiner Fussballverband (LFV) uses the global power and fascination of their game to inspire Liechtenstein and offer everyone the chance to partake in and thrive through the realm of football with the motto ‘Ein Spiel. Ein Team. Fürs Land.’ (One game. One team. For the country.).
The Liechtensteiner Fussballverband (LFV) was established in 1934. A significant moment for the LFV occurred in 1974 when it became the 142nd member of FIFA and the 34th member of UEFA. Due to a lack of sufficient clubs, Liechtenstein’s football teams have been participating in the Swiss championship since 1933 through a contractual agreement. Currently, there are over 2.000 active footballers in the country. In July 2023, the LFV published its first sustainability strategy. This sustainability strategy serves as a guide for their federation. It sets out clear goals and actions to guide their efforts in the areas of Environment, Inclusion & Equality and Health & Wellbeing.
At the Liechtensteiner FA they firmly believe that football unites people and breaks down barriers. “We value inclusion, diversity and social integration and offer or facilitate programmes and activities for all ages. Together we can harness the positive impact of football and effect change in society.”
Some CSR Programmes:
In cooperation with the Liechtenstein Olympic Committee (LOC), the LFV implements the project “Making children strong in the sports environment”. Each year, a key topic in the area of child protection (e.g. bullying, social media, addiction etc.) is addressed to coaches, officials, focal points, etc., and preventive measures are communicated as well as intervention options developed in the event of an incident. The steering group installed in mid-2020 consists of representatives from the following institutions: LFV, LOC, Office of Social Services and the School Sport Working Group.
The LFV is in the process of building one of the most environmentally friendly football campus in Europe. With the new football competence center in 2025, the LFV will have a state-of-the-art football infrastructure, combined with the LFV administration headquarters under one roof.
Liechtensteiner Fussballverband (LFV) actively seeks opportunities to engage in the exchange of best practices and acquire fresh insights from the realm of football and sustainability. Additionally, they strive to provide exemplary best practices, tailored specifically for smaller clubs and associations.
Hubert Rovers, CEO of EFDN: “I’m happy to announce the Liechtensteiner Fussballverband to the Network. It’s always a pleasure to welcome a FA to our Network as they have an impact on the development of ESG strategies in their domestic football. The LFV shows through its mission and values its awareness of the high level of social responsibility that football assumes in society. Like EFDN they share the philosophy to use the social power of football to inspire and thrive through football.”
