EFDN welcomes Cypriot club Omonoia Nicosia FC as new member

EFDN is pleased to welcome Omonoia Nicosia FC from Cyprus in our network. Omonoia Football Ltd is the managing company of the Omonoia Nicosia football club which was founded in 1948. The word is pronounced “o-m-o-n-i-a”, which is the Greek word for Concord, harmony, unity. Omonoia is one of the most popular and successful football clubs in Cyprus, having won 20 national championships, 14 cups and 16 super cups.

Through time, the team players and the club as a whole came to represent more than just a football club. Omonoia has come to stand for ideals of social justice, equality and solidarity. This is also reflected in the club’s colours: green (representing hope) and white (representing joy); the badge has a green shamrock in a white circle.

An Active Role in the Society

Based on the club’s ideals, OMONOIA is dedicated to maintaining an active role in society. The club collaborates with its sponsors and fans to drive projects and initiatives that adopt a format of motivating communities and subsequently their accomplishments lead to positive social impact.

Omonia’s social activities include and are not limited to:

• Promotion of social inclusion, by inviting marginalised families for football experiences.
• Awareness campaigns.
• Promotion of stadium safety.
• Community engagement activation programs [e.g. promotion of sports & healthy lifestyle].
• Collaborative social offerings.
