EFDN welcomes Aris Limassol FC to the Network!
Aris Limassol FC is one of Cyprus’ oldest football clubs, known for its strong commitment to sustainability and community support. The clubs leads initiatives in environmental conservation, animal welfare, and social welfare, engaging actively with fans and partners in these efforts. By becoming a member, Aris Limassol is looking forward to work with other clubs in Europe, share ideas, and improve local programmes for the environment and social support.
Their CSR programmes have a strong focus on reducing waste, promoting recycling, and supporting vulnerable populations, using football as a platform for positive change. The club’s mission is to excel in football while promoting sustainability and social responsibility, and making an effective impact on the environment. Aris Limassol FC wants to be a leader in both football and social impact, inspiring future generations through its dedication to sustainability and community care.
Last year, Aris Limassol FC organised 3 cleanup events with the support of our partner City Friends Club, including a joint cleanup with Real Betis Balompié during playing in Europa League. Over 360 individuals, including players, club staff, academy members, fans, and partners, participated in these events. As a result, 400 bags of general waste, 121 bags of PMD, and 350 kg of bulky waste have been collected
Another unique project in Cyprus include the only football programme for children with autism, offering weekly football lessons, and organising football academies in Cypriot villages with limited access to sports facilities. Over 80 children are having football lessons free of charge in the Kalavasos village, while Aris Limassol FC also plans to establish similar academies in villages near Pissouri (54 children) and Agros (56 children). Remaining true to its initial mission of supporting vulnerable populations, the owners of Aris FC sponsor the “Aris Social Care Foundation.” The foundation was established in December 2022 by its president, Dr. Nikos Zamboglou, and operates under the umbrella of the Aris Union and the German Oncology Center. The foundation provides social care and support services to patients from all over Cyprus and these services are provided both during and after treatment.
Through its EFDN membership, Aris Limassol hopes to collaborate with other clubs across Europe with a strong focus on environmental issues and social welfare, share best practices, bring fresh ideas and creativity to inspire likeminded organisations and continue developing strategies to promote impactful environmental and social initiatives in close cooperation with their fanbase.
