EFDN to Participate in Online Workshop on Child Protection Policies in Sport

On the 14th and 15th of October, EFDN will be participating in an online workshop hosted by KMOP on Child Protection Policies in Sport. This will be an opportunity for CSR specialists to exchange ideas and knowledge on how to best safeguard the well-being of the youth.

KMOP is a non-profit organisation that works to support vulnerable people through the provision of social services, implementation of social initiatives, education, research and development of know-how on social policy issues. KMOP designs and implements impactful initiatives, aiming to make a difference in tackling the ongoing challenges in a globalised world.

The upcoming workshop functions within the framework of the EU-funded ACTIVE Project. ACTIVE’s goal is to promote the embedding of child safeguarding policies by sports clubs and extra-curricular activities organisations, as well as leisure and recreational clubs working with children. The project is being implemented in Greece, Italy, Cyprus, Portugal and Scotland.

The goal of this workshop will be to share knowledge and raise awareness regarding the policies in place in the sports industry to ensure the protection of children and youth. Participants will include experts in the field and representatives from sports clubs from all the aforementioned countries. EFDN has now added itself to that list, too.

An important focal point of the discussion will be the Online Self-Assessment Tool for sports clubs. This resource aims to:

  1. Help sports clubs comply with the principle of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child in the practical context of their activities; and
  2. Guide sports clubs on how to assess and reflect on their current practices and mechanisms, with a view to improve and/or develop an efficient child safeguarding policy and therefore reap benefits to all parties involved (children and their families as well as sports professionals, managers and other relevant persons).

EFDN looks forward to participating in the workshop and contribute to the development of stronger Child Protective Policies in sports.
