EFDN organized the 3rd ‘Welcome through Football’ seminar in Emmen
The 3rd physical ‘Welcome through Football’ seminar took place between the 6th and 8th of March after Bremen in March 2022 and Liverpool in May 2022
This year besides EFDN, many football club foundations and communities were involved such as FC Emmen Naoberschap, KAA Gent Foundation, Newcastle United Foundation, Big Hearts, Sheffield United Community Trust, Everton in the Community, Fundãçao Benfica, Werder Bremen and AEK Athens (online).
During the seminar in Emmen, the partners presented their updates with the delivery of the programme, with some of the activities they have done and the challenges they faced. Moreover, they shared nice stories about participants getting to work as volunteers for the clubs and the involvement of families in some of the cities where the Welcome through Football is being run.
EFDN covered some general elements of the programme and the next steps towards the last months of the project funded by the EU, and is looking forward to sharing some inspiring stories very soon.
As a highlight, the lunch was made and brought to the stadium by students from Pro Emmen. The students of the catering courses kitchen assistants (KAS) and service assistants (BAS) received a practical assignment at neighbor FC Emmen.
Another relevant activity was to take the project partners to the Refugee Camp in Emmen, which is a residential family camp where FC Emmen delivers their football activities. The main target is children, including boys and girls who enjoy the work that FC Emmen coaches and volunteers do there.
On the second day of the seminar, EFDN had a guest connecting online by Emanuele Santi, who is the Founder of Riding the Rainbow. He introduced his initiative to the project partners and encouraged them to start using this brand new app to donate sporting equipment in their area, developed by Ukranian experts.
The next physical ‘Welcome through Football’ seminar will be in July and the location will be decided soon.
