EFDN Highlights: March 2021
As 2021 comes to an end, EFDN invites you to look back on this year’s top activities, projects and news stories. Take a look at some highlights from March.
#MORETHANFOOTBALL ACTION WEEKS
On March 22nd, we kicked off the #Morethanfootball Action Weeks 2021. Thanks to our members and fellow football organisations who share the same values, we were able to demonstrate that football is more than just a game.
SOLIDARITY & DIVERSITY – A HUMAN CHAIN ACROSS BORDERS
For the 5th anniversary of the #Morethanfootball Action Weeks (22.03. -18.04.2021), together with the participating clubs, leagues and FAs, we wanted to demonstrate our solidarity and share the spirit of #Morethanfootball online. Side by side, we made the longest human solidarity chain in European football that started on 24 March. The aim was to show the diversity of people involved in the numerous football for development projects across Europe.
WELCOME THROUGH FOOTBALL
On the 10th and the 11th of March 2021, the ‘Welcome through Football’ project partners met online. The project managers involved connected to continue exchanging knowledge and ideas. They also shared their project concepts and updates on the programme delivery.
SCORING FOR HEALTH
The ‘Scoring for Health‘ project partners also met online for their project meetings. The project managers involved connected to continue provide each other with their delivery updates, talked about the correct way of monitoring and evaluating the project using Upshot, and went over the to-dos for the final report of the project. In the end, the participation in the upcoming #Morethanfootball Action Weeks was discussed.
WALKING FOOTBALL LEAGUE
EFDN Members participating in the Walking Football League project virtually met on 30 March. The project targeted at people who are 50+ years old is funded by the European Union and runs for 2 1/2 years from January 2021 to June 2023. Nine partners from six countries – Norway, Hungary, Portugal, Germany, UK, Spain – are participating.
Member News
As part of the “Open Football Club” educational programme, young people from the training centre took part in several workshops led by the educational team and the TFC Foundation.
For the second time, female FC Shakhtar players took part in a joint training session with girls with disabilities as part of the Special Olympics project.
New Members
In March, EFDN welcomed new members Foundation 92 and Fundación Alcoraz.
