EFDN Highlights: June 2020

As 2020 comes to an end, EFDN invites you to look back on this year’s top activities, projects and news stories. Take a look at some highlights from June.

#BlackoutTuesday – Black Lives Matter

The month of June was marked by the Black Lives Matter protests that swept across the United States to demand justice and equality after the tragic murder of George Floyd. As part of an initiative to demonstrate solidarity, take a stance against racism and promote education on the discrimination against African Americans, #BlackoutTuesday was a day for everyone to go silent on social media and flood it with black squares. EFDN proudly took part in the initiative on June 3rd and further highlighted how we and our members support the BLM movement through concrete programmes and awareness campaigns.

Fair Sport 4 All Programme Launch

On the 5th of June, EFDN launched the Fair Sport 4 All programme to combat match-fixing in football. The project is mainly centred around education and helping the football community (especially clubs and players) gain a better understanding of the rules and risks associated with match-fixing. Through the programme, we hope to ensure that the integrity and values of true sportsmanship, fair play and respect are reflected and embraced in European football. On the 5th of June, EFDN launched the Fair Sport 4 All programme to combat match-fixing in football. World Refugee Day

On the 20th of June, we celebrate the strength, courage and perseverance of millions of people forced to leave their homes in search of a better future. We at EFDN believe football should play an important role in integrating refugees in society. This year, we honoured World Refugee Day by showcasing the programmes EFDN has set up to support social integration of refugees in Europe, as well as the initiatives put forth by our members.

Sport Pride 2020

EFDN joined the #SportPride2020 on 27 June. The aim of the social media campaign is to promote a discrimination-free sport. The campaign is in line with our initiatives like the Pan-European programme Show Racism the Red Card.
