EFDN Highlights: July 2021

As 2021 comes to an end, EFDN invites you to look back on this year’s top activities, projects and news stories. Take a look at some highlights from July.

INTERVIEW – FREDERIQUE WINIA (FIFPRO) ON THE RED BUTTON APP

EFDN had the opportunity to interview Frederique Winia (FIFPro), Director Member Services and General Secretary FIFPro Asia/Oceania, as part of our Fair Sport 4 All initiative. The programme aims to create awareness, share best practices and develop new educational resources on a practitioner’s level, that can be used to prevent or tackle match-fixing. This interview aimed to have a better understanding of the role of FIFPro and especially their tool to tackle match-fixing as well as protect the players against all types of pressure issues.

‘SHOW RACISM THE RED CARD’ WEBINAR

On the 6th of July ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ hosted a webinar on anti-discrimination and anti-racism programmes in football, such as our European awareness-raising campaign and our #DiversityWins educational programme that promotes diversity, respect, and tolerance on and off the pitch. During the webinar, we saw presentations from professional football clubs from different countries who have participated in our programme such as Pro League Belgium, Club Brugge, Toulouse FC, Inter d’Escaldes, and Nuova Peloro. The EFDN also shared a presentation on how you can use our free resources and become a part of the biggest anti-discrimination campaign in Europe. The webinar was kicked off by welcoming everyone and introducing what the schedule was. After a brief introduction, a presentation on what the EFDN focuses on how we can use the social power of football to advocate for positive change.

COMMUNITY CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WEBINAR

In order to update EFDN and the partnering clubs in the delivery of the project, a webinar was held to share the progress of the respective clubs. The webinar began with each of the clubs shedding light on the delivery of updates and progress they have made until date. This of course has developed gradually due to the problems that have surfaced because of the pandemic. This was followed by an interactive session between the participants with regard to alternative activities that can be carried out with the assistance of a points system with different criteria. Special attention was also given to international/regional days such as Disability Day (3 December) & Women’s Day (8 March), when certain activities could be carried out.
