Derby County Community Trust hosts Joy of Moving Festival

Derby County Community Trust hosted a Joy of Moving Festival on Tuesday 5th July. The festival brought together several schools from across Derby with them taking part in a variety of different physical activities and learning about a healthy balanced diet all while having fun.

Joy of moving is a global project that has been running in the UK for seven years in partnership with the EFL Trust and Ferrero, working to educate children on the benefits of a healthy diet and physical activity through games and having fun. So far, the programme has supported over 400,000 children. As a Trust in the 2021/22 academic year, the English Foundation worked with 24 schools across Derbyshire to support 1318 students helping to get them more active.

Local schools were getting involved in a number of activities and they were also learning about a healthy balanced meal.

“The Joy of Moving Festival was a fantastic way of bringing our schools together and teaching them about the benefits of being active and eating right all while making sure they were having as much fun as possible.” (…) “The Initiative is a great way of teaching them something that will benefit them not just in their school lives but in everything they do moving forward while also getting them out of the classroom and changing up their normal routine.”

Sophie Hunt, lead coach of the programme for the Trust
