Community Champions Started this Week for Willem II Participants
The latest project of Willem II Betrokken, Community Champions, started last week. The project’s total of 20 participants had the official kick-off at the Koning Willem II stadium.
The programme included a fully catered lunch, a tour of the stadium, trying on clothes in the fan shop and, of course, a real contract signing. Of course, a game of football together could not be missed either.
Over the next sixteen weeks, ten youngsters from the Praktijkcollege Tilburg and ten youngsters from the Reeshof College will work on personal talent development through various workshops, company visits and community contributions. The project will be carried out at the Willem II amateur club and SV Reeshof.
About the project
Community Champions uses the attraction and social power of professional football in the Netherlands to reach and engage young people in a social service project based on football. The project is focused on young people aged between 12 and 30. The opportunity for the young people not only to be involved in the club and the neighbourhood but also to become a real ambassador for ‘their’ club has a status-enhancing effect, which plays into the social circles the young people are in.
