Community Champions Sparta Participants in Action for Neighborhood
During the Community Champions project, young people will look for their own talents in a workshop and jointly set up new social activities for local residents.
The first end tournament of Community Champions is going to take place on the 9th of July at the KNVB Campus in Zeist, with the following clubs FC Emmen, FC Twente, Vitesse, Feyenoord, Excelsior, Sparta and RKC Waalwijk. They will all take a team with their selected Community Champions. During the day they will get an inspirational workshop, will play football and play games. An important thing of this day is that all the participants from the club will meet each other.
Also, every club has a game which the other clubs are going to play. Sparta is more than football and with its social activities, it ensures cohesion and solidarity in the district. Are the young people able to set up a successful campaign? And will they be able to beat Vitesse in the Community Champions Battle? Watch the video below.
As Community Champions, young people discover (new) talents within themselves, meet new people and give something back to others. For example, one participant finds out that she really enjoys organizing events, while another feels very comfortable with the marketing thereof. Or one of the participants gets the chance to get started with a sponsor of the club, while another gets acquainted with a completely new sport.
In addition to gaining experience and so-called work skills , the young people can earn points for their efforts, development and skills. These points can eventually be exchanged for match cards, tracksuits or match shirts, for example. The young people complete the process with a national MDT certificate, which states which characteristics they have worked on and what they can place on their CV. In addition, the young people who have achieved the most points will take part in the national closing event on Saturday, July 9, 2022, where the young people will meet all Community Champions.
