COMMUNITY CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WEBINAR – SUMMARY
Community Champions League, or CCL as it is abbreviated, is an unique pan-European social street football competition organized locally with the involvement of nine community engaged European clubs – Fundação Benfica, Club Brugge Foundation, Werder Bremen, NAC Breda, Feyenoord Foundation, Aberdeen FC Community Trust, Chelsea Foundation, Valerenga Fotball and Ferencvarosi TC, in collaboration with EFDN.
The nine cities across eight countries in which these clubs are located is home to the competition that sheds light on community-related activities through Fair Play, Volunteering and Social Responsibility.
In order to update EFDN and the partnering clubs in the delivery of the project, a webinar was held to share the progress of the respective clubs. It was facilitated by EFDN Project Managers Martyn Rijkhoff and Maria Lopez Puchades.
The webinar began with each of the clubs shedding light on the delivery of updates and progress they have made until date. This of course has developed gradually due to the problems that have surfaced because of the pandemic. Majority of the clubs are scheduled to begin the next season of CCL in September and October.
This was followed by an interactive session between the participants with regard to alternative activities that can be carried out with the assistance of a points system with different criteria. Special attention was also given to international/regional days such as Disability Day (3 December) & Women’s Day (8 March), when certain activities could be carried out.
Towards the end of the webinar, Financial Reporting was addressed along with Monitoring & Evaluation – in order to track data and development of the phases implemented by the respective clubs.
The next meeting between the partners is scheduled to be held in August 2021.
