Coleman Helps Celebrate Disability Awards

Seamus Coleman was the guest of honour at the annual Everton in the Community Disability Awards event on Monday evening.
The Blues full-back was joined at the prestigious Isla Gladstone Conservatory by Club Ambassadors Graham Stuart and Ian Snodin to help celebrate another successful year for all 10 of the charity’s disability teams that play across Merseyside.

Coleman opened proceedings with a Q&A session, before presenting awards for Players’ Player of the Year and Manager’s Player of the Year to players from Everton in the Community’s world-renowned programme.

Hosted by Darren Griffiths, the ceremony saw players from Dune’s Under-13s and Under-16s, Archbishop Beck Under-13s, Down Syndrome team, Deaf team, Amputee team, Women’s Pan Disability, Pan Disability C and Pan Disability D team.

Republic of Ireland captain and EitC Disability Ambassador Coleman, said: “I’ve loved coming down tonight to help hand some of the awards out and it’s been great to see some familiar faces and get the chance to meet lots of new people too.

“I know they hold this event every year to recognise the hard work of all the players and I’ve seen tonight how much it means to all of the participants, they clearly love being a part of Everton in the Community which is brilliant to see.”

“A massive thank you to Seamus for taking the time to come along and help us as well tonight, he’s made everyone’s night just by being here and we can’t thank him enough for continually showing his support to the disability programme.”

The disability programme, which is delivered by the Club’s official charity and funded by the Premier League and BT Sport, is one of the largest in the world.

It provides football and physical activity opportunities for thousands of disabled children and adults each year.

The programme is all-inclusive and there are teams available to those with any disability whether that be learning, physical, reduced stature, autism, cerebral palsy, deaf or partially sighted. For more information on EitC, click here.
