Clubs join forces in support of International Missing Children’s Day

The 25th of May is the International Missing Children’s Day and football clubs have come together to raise awareness of this sensible matter.

In 2001, the ICMEC (International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children), the NCMEC (National Center for Missing & Exploited Children) and the GMCN (Global Missing Children’s Network ) have proclaimed the International Missing Children’s Day.

Highlighting the issue of child abduction and educating parents on safeguarding measures to protect their children, the 25th of May has become the day to honor missing and abducted children while celebrating those who have been recovered.

This year the football community will join forces with ICMEC to spread awareness on this sensitive subject. Both the European Club Association (ECA) and FIFA have joined the ‘Football Cares’ initiative. “Clubs have a longstanding tradition of being vehicles for social impact in both their local communities and globally, a tradition of massive importance in today’s world.  As a collective unit, ECA’s members have an unparalleled platform to reach millions worldwide to support those that are particularly vulnerable in our society,” said Charlie Marshall, Chief Executive Officer at ECA.

Many football clubs involved

Over 50 football clubs have decided to use their social media visibility to bring awareness to International Missing Children’s Day. Among them also many Supporters of Each Other and EFDN members:
