Children From Hounslow Celebrate England Win in Style at Community Stadium Hub
More than 60 local children from Hounslow joined the Trust at Brentford‘s Community Stadium Hub on Tuesday night to take part in an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion workshop whilst also cheering on England.
It was a successful night for England defeating Wales 3-0 to progress to the last 16 of the World Cup and it was a positive night at the Trust’s Community Stadium Hub as more than 60 local children joined us for an Anti-Discrimination workshop relating to some of the issues in Qatar.
The workshop focused on the meaning behind the Rainbow Laces campaign and issues relating to Kick it Out and No Room for Racism. Each participant also made a personal pledge in relation to supporting equality, diversity and inclusion within their local community, with examples below:
“I will start…being kinder to others”
“I will start…standing up and helping the person who is being discriminated”
“I will continue to…educate myself”
“I will continue to…report discrimination”
“I will stop… being mean to other people”
“I will stop…others from being horrible to people”
Pizza and refreshments were provided with tickets to Brentford’s home fixture against Liverpool on 2 January 2023 up for grabs for the best dressed ‘Super Fans’. The best pledges, courtesy and behaviour was also acknowledged with a series of prizes throughout the night.
“As part of our commitment to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion we were able to use our fantastic new event space and the World Cup as a platform to further educate and inspire our participants, in conjunction with the Premier League’s Rainbow Laces and No Room for Racism campaigns.
The participants grasped the concept of allying with marginalised groups and communities with enthusiasm, and then actively made a pledge towards their own future actions in supporting those who face discrimination in all its forms. A fun, informative and belly filled session had by all involved……and England won as well to top the night off!”

“Tuesday night was an amazing opportunity for the local kids, to come and celebrate England’s progression into the next stage of the World Cup. This was also an opportunity to promote our Wednesday Youth Club, which takes place at the Trust’s Community Stadium Stadium Hub from 6pm to 8pm every other Wednesday starting on 14 December. We hope that from the engagement at the England game, this will encourage more local kids to come to our Youth Club, where they can take part in activities such as table tennis, video games, a variety of board games and some arts and crafts.”
