Chelsea’s Sam Kerr and LEGO Join Forces to Teach Young Girls the Power of Resilience
Sam Kerr and the Chelsea FC Foundation inspire 65 young girls as they enjoy a bespoke football training session at Cobham they will never forget!
In partnership with the LEGO Group and the Chelsea Foundation, girls aged 8-11 experienced the power of play, combining football activities with LEGO brick building. Kerr answered participants’ questions, took part in football drills alongside the girls and oversaw a LEGO replica build of her famous KERR 20 shirt.
The Play Unstoppable campaign was launched with research that revealed parents of girls cited resilience and determination as among the top qualities exhibited by today’s most inspirational women.
Zarah Al-Kudcy, Chelsea FC Women’s commercial director, said: ‘Seeing a global brand like the LEGO Group tell a story about resilience through football has been truly unique. The Chelsea Foundation, the LEGO Group and Sam Kerr was the ultimate combination and a great example of how a partnership can deliver something both engaging and innovative to the next generation.’
Isabel Graham, head of marketing at the LEGO Group, added: ‘It was such a wonderful session at Cobham, seeing the girls interacting with Sam Kerr and hearing her stories of resilience. It’s important to us at the LEGO Group to help break down barriers to play and we know that learning how to recover from setbacks is key in enabling children to achieve their potential.’
