Chelsea FC’s Zecira Musovic shares tips for Children’s Mental Health Week

Chelsea FC Women goalkeeper Zecira Musovic met with participants on Chelsea FC Foundation’s Kicks programme via Zoom last week. As part of Chelsea Foundation’s Children’s Mental Health Week activities, the Blues goalkeeper discussed how a positive mentality can support mental health and affect performances at the highest level.

The participants, who take part in the Foundation’s 14+ Kicks programme, asked Musovic a range of different questions, from how she looks after her mental health, how we can encourage conversations around the subject and what the next steps could be for future generations.

The Premier League Kicks programme aims to support young people in progressing into positive pathways. This week, the Premier League celebrates 15 years of the community programme. Throughout last week, the Foundation showcased how many of its different programmes supports improving mental health for both the young people and staff members on the projects. To round off the week, Musovic took the time to speak with young people on the programme to inspire and encourage a conversation around mental health.

‘It was really inspiring to speak to and engage with the young people on the call, especially as times have been difficult for everyone during the pandemic. It’s important to keep our minds healthy and support each other as best we can. These sessions provide a great opportunity for us to get together and share our experiences. We had a really positive discussion!’

‘Zecira was a fantastic role model for our participants. Having someone like her who is performing at the top-level talk about their approach and mindset and relating it to our young people is really impactful.’
