Celtic FC joins the European Football for Development Network
EFDN is happy to communicate that Celtic Football Club and its community trust Celtic FC Foundation have joined the European Football for Development Network.
Already in 1887, the club was founded with the purpose of alleviating poverty in the immigrant Irish population in the East End of Glasgow.
Celtic FC Foundation
Today, the Celtic FC Foundation continues to uphold and promote the charitable principles and heritage of Celtic Football Club. Their priority is to provide assistance to those who face daily challenges within theirkey priority areas – Health, Equality, Learning and Poverty (HELP).
The Foundation’s ethos is typified by a determination to create opportunities for society’s most vulnerable and marganlised groups- principally, the foundation addresses root causes of poverty by equipping individuals with the tools and means to reverse inequality Charity is fundamental to Celtic’s identity, and as the Club’s charitable arm, the foundation recognises the enormous importance and responsibility of honouring the legacy of our founding father, Brother Walfrid.
Geographically, the foundation and club immediately prioritise and conduct activities in the north and east of Glasgow. This subsequently extends to Greater Glasgow, Inverclyde and North Lanarkshire with Scotland, Ireland and the rest of the UK following thereafter. Celtic FC Foundation’s work also retains an International focus, emphasising Asia and Africa.
