Celtic FC Foundation aids local communities in collaboration with Islamic Relief UK
Scottish giants Celtic FC have displayed their commitment towards social development and community inclusion by taking up this compassionate initiative.
Through the Football for Good Fund, an initiative of the club to help local communities during this pandemic, food packages were distributed among local Glaswegian communities to help support vulnerable families.
Approximately 500 food packages were prepared with the help of Islamic Relief UK, a non-profit organisation catering to humanitarian aid and development. The non-profit donated over £13,000 to the Football for Good Fund, through which the food drive was made possible.
The pandemic has proved to be testing times for large parts of the community. Taking this into consideration, the club foundation staff worked alongside volunteers to distribute 500 food packages to 14 charitable organisations across Glasgow.
Each food package contained 21 items – which included condiments such as milk, pasta, vegetables, flour, rice and tea, among other things.
Previous months have witnessed food drives being held across the United Kingdom in London, Liverpool and Birmingham, by Islamic Relief UK.
