Bruno, the Real Betis Foundation’s new star signing
Bruno Escandell, the five-year-old boy who became the second star signing of the Real Betis Foundation last November, will be presented to the fans at the Benito Villamarín stadium before the match between Real Betis and FC Barcelona this Wednesday.
At just a few days old, the little boy had to be admitted to the ICU of the Hospital Universitario Virgen del Rocío diagnosed with bilateral renal dysplasia. Despite the fact that his kidneys were not working and that when he was admitted he had a blood infection that was incompatible with life, Bruno always fought with a smile on his face until he underwent a kidney transplant at the age of one year and eleven months. This kidney transplant was possible thanks to the donation of his mother, Beatriz Martínez.
For his fight against this disease and his optimistic character, Bruno Escandell, from Seville, has become the star signing of the Fundación Verdiblanca for the 2022-23 season. A real superhero who says he has come “to give hope”. Bruno is already living a normal life, goes to school and is full of vitality and the desire to help other children. The little boy has already attended the traditional Christmas visit to the hospitals that Real Betis makes with the first team players.
