Brentford’ Scoring for Health project enters final phase

Started in 2018, Scoring for Health is a joint initiative that aims to tackle the problem of poor eating habits, declining levels of physical activity in children, sedentary lifestyles, childhood obesity and lack of adequate physical facilities to practice sports.

EFDN has been partnering with UEFA Foundation and eight European football clubs – including Brentford FC – to deliver high-level impact on communities local to the clubs.

The programme mainly caters to parents of children between 7 and 13, and kids themselves, in order to promote values of being physically active and hence the benefits of adopting a healthy lifestyle.

Brentford have begun their final phase of the programme, which has a total duration of 2,5 years. It includes interactive classes, learning sessions and workshops at two schools in the Brentford area – mainly St Mary’s Catholic Primary School & St Anselm’s Catholic Primary School.

In order to incentivize participation, the club have offered both schools the reward of a place in the Gunnersbury Cup, a local football tournament hosted at Brentford’s new venue Gunnersbury Pak Sports Hub.
