Blindfootball at PSV Foundation
Blind Football is designed for players who are blind or visually impaired. It is currently a Paralympic sport, and the International Blind Sports Association also organizes a World Championship. On a local level, this can make a lot of impact.
All field players will wear vision-reducing glasses to ensure equal conditions. The goalkeepers have no visual impairment and coach their teammates. The ball contains a bell, so that the players can hear where it is. In addition, the players are obliged to call out ‘voy’ when they take defensive action. In this way, the attacker also knows where the defenders are. The field is forty by twenty metres and there is a boarding on the sides. For the rest, the same rules apply as in normal (indoor) football.
PSV Foundation recently started this new initiative and today they played against the footballers from Amsterdam! A great development for people with a visual disability and a great result.
For the first time, PSV – AFC Ajax was on the match calendar of #blindfootball.
There was also attention for many other suitable forms of football. The Amputation Footballers were also there to play an international match against Belgium.
Compliments to the organisator Rene van Oeffel and the host Stichting De Betrokken Spartaan.
