Blackburn Rovers’s Defensive Duo Delight Young Fans!
Joe Rankin-Costello and Hayden Carter teamed up with Blackburn Rovers Community Trust to surprise young fans enjoying their school holidays. The Rovers stars, who played starring roles in Saturday’s 1-1 draw away to Watford, were special guests at the Blackburn Rovers Indoor Centre (BRIC) at Ewood Park, where the club’s award-winning charity were hosting their February Half Term Camps.
The defensive duo took part in an entertaining Question & Answer session, before showcasing their skills by joining in with a couple of small-sided games.
The excited participants were also given the opportunity to collect autographs and photos with the popular home-grown players.
Hayden said:
“It’s been really nice to spend some time down here today with the kids, who will hopefully be Rovers fans of the future. It shows how family-orientated the club is and it’s been good to come down and join in and see the kids enjoying themselves.
“With football, you only think that you put smiles on people’s faces when you win games, but I’ve realised today that you can come down here and make a kid’s day. These kids love football and so they get excited when they meet a footballer and that’s really rewarding, so hopefully they’ve all really enjoyed their day.
“When I was a kid, I used to try and meet a player at games and that would make my day, and I’d go back home and tell everyone about it, so if the kids down here go home really happy and tell their parents that they’ve met myself and Joe then that’s what it’s all about.
“I think the club is brilliant with the work it does in the local community. The community work they do is excellent and it’s always been a massive part of the club since I’ve been here, and the way I’ve seen it today it’s really good for everyone who’s come down and long may it continue.”
