Blackburn Rovers Community Trust engage with hundreds of people during October half-term
Blackburn Rovers Community Trust’s impactful work within the borough has seen a busy week for the club’s official charity, engaging with hundreds of people.
The Trust have delivered a high number of projects and programmes during the October half-term period for all age ranges from football camps to Remember the Rovers.
This week alone, they have coached more than 100 children aged from five to twelve, with more than 50 of those getting the opportunity to meet first-team players George Hirst and Harry Pickering.
“One of the things that we spoke about when I signed here was moments like this, and how important the Club is to the local community. Coming down to this session and seeing how the kids are madly obsessed with Rovers, it is nice to see.”

Blackburn Rovers Community Trust’s Neighborhood Youth Offer ran sessions each day, ranging from a trip to Mrs Dowsons Farm Park, to a football tournament in Liverpool to raise awareness for Black History Month.
Two of the young participants commented by saying: “I have absolutely loved this week, I have had a great time”, whilst another said: “It has been amazing, I have loved it so much. One of our coaches said we did great on our session, and I have been smiling ever since,”
On Wednesday night, the Trust held a Halloween-themed bingo night at Ewood Park, with 160 people in attendance. The event was attended by people of all ages, and due to its success, the Trust will be holding another bingo night in November.
“It was great to see families come along to another successful bingo night, and we look forward to hosting many more popular bingo evenings in the future, enabling many communities to come together to have fun.”

Blackburn Rovers Community Trust also ran their regular sessions, such as Remember the Rovers, with 30 participants attending this week at Ewood Park.
Meanwhile, away from the UK, three community coaches delivered a week-long football camp in Cyprus for armed forces families, with 40 children taking part across the five days.
“We have made an incredible impact across many different areas during the October half-term, ranging across a wide range of projects and age ranges.
I’d like to thank all the staff for their hard work, with more than 100 children attending our soccer camps, from our Neighborhood Youth Offer team providing several different activities for young people across the borough.
We saw a fantastic turn out for the Halloween bingo night. In Cyprus, we have supported our served armed forces and their families by bringing fun and football to them.
We have seen our regular sessions continue to such as Remember the Rovers for example, and this week highlights like many the positive impact Blackburn Rovers Community Trust has on the local community.”
