Benfica Foundation Initiative receives 5 tons of food and solidarity

Last weekend, the S.L Benfica Foundation organised a very successful initiative, which encouraged the club’s supporters to help people in need by donating food.

In the course of the initiative, SL Benfica invited all fans to the stadium, giving them the unique opportunity to take pictures on the pitch with the 3 trophies that the club won during the season. As part of the initiative, the participants had to being food donations for the main food bank in Portugal.

The aim of the initiative was to get 5 tons of food, but we’re probably going to get more than that number.” said the Benfica Foundation President, Jorge Miranda.

Before the start of the initiative, Benfica’s football coach Rui Vitoria recorded a video asking for the contribution of the fans. Thereupon, many supporters joined the initiative. Fans had to face up to 5h waiting lines. The Benfica had planned to clause the stadium around 8, however, the team stayed with the fans past midnight, due to the great support.

Once again, the Benfica Foundation showed itself to be on the front line, with the club patenting a remarkable synergy between the solitary and sporting components.
