Benfica Foundation receives Merit Award
Fundação Benfica received this Tuesday, the 5th of July, the Merit Award given by the Fundação do Futebol – Liga Portugal.
The award was received at the Kick-Off event of the 2022/23 football season, which took place at the Centro de Congressos da Alfândega do Porto, and aims to recognize the work of the Red Foundation throughout the past season, which highlights the mobilization achieved through humanitarian action, in line with SIC Esperança, in support of Ukraine.
Simão Sabrosa , former Club player and director of international relations, attended the ceremony as a representative of the Benfica Foundation and took the Kick-Off stage.
“On behalf of the Benfica Foundation, I thank you for this award. In 2022, the Foundation has already helped more than 50 thousand people , of which more than 27 thousand in Portugal. Fundação Benfica for the work he is doing”.

Jorge Miranda , director of the Benfica Foundation, was also in the Invicta city and welcomed the “fair prize” given to the solidarity organization of the eagles.
“It is a fair prize for the Benfiquistas for their solidarity, but also for the Portuguese, because, in reality, the Foundation unites the country around solidarity , as seen with Ukraine, but also in other causes”, he considered.

Remember that, in the first half of 2022 , the Benfica Foundation helped more than 57,600 people , a value very close to the maximum already reached by the solidarity institution, which stands at 64,728 people in 2019. The Benfica Foundation’s activity is centered on three fundamental axes : educational projects, inclusive sport and Benfica Faz Bem .
