Bayer 04 player is committed to Afghanistan aid
Bayer 04 player Nadiem Amiri is committed to the Afghanistan aid with World Vision. Bayer 04 generally supports the social commitment of Werkself players, including Nadiem Amiri’s current appeal for World Vision. The 26-year-old is committed to helping needy people in Afghanistan, the home country of his parents, on behalf of the international aid organisation.
The midfielder appeals for donations in a video message and has also personally supported this appeal as well. His family fled from Afghanistan to Germany in the 1980s.
“I am happy to have grown up in Germany. At the same time, however, it hurts my heart to see how people are suffering in Afghanistan.
“I just want to help and do something good for my family’s compatriots. My father was there just the other day and then told me in detail about the current conditions.”

The situation in Afghanistan
In the South Asian country from which Nadiem Amiri’s family once fled, a large part of the population lives in mountainous regions that are difficult to access and, as a result, often receive no medical help when they fall ill.
The loss of jobs, rising food prices and the Corona pandemic pose great challenges for the people to provide themselves with the basic necessities. Currently, every third inhabitant of Afghanistan is dependent on humanitarian aid.
The cold snap and the particularly long winter season are exacerbating the plight of the Afghan population. Often, basic necessities are lacking: A warming blanket and a hygiene package can already alleviate need. Both are included in the “Care Package Afghanistan”.
