Bayer 04: Amiri and Ostermeier Kick at School
Together under the cross: As part of the new Bayer 04 campaign “Stadtteilspieltage” (city district match days), the Werksklub will be presenting itself in the various districts of Leverkusen in the coming months. Before the Werkself’s home match against SC Freiburg, the first of the six campaign match days, everything revolves around Opladen. One of the first events took place at the GGS Herzogstraße.
For 15 school children, a very special sports lesson was on the agenda in the afternoon: Together with Werkself professionals Nadiem Amiri and Selina Ostermeier, the 6 to 10-year-olds ambitiously kicked for victory in the gym.
Amiri: ”Impressed by the level”
In the contested 4:4 draw, the two Bayer 04 players together caused great admiration with their tricks – and had just as much fun as the little ones.
“That was super today. It was really fun to spend the afternoon in a different way. There were also really a lot of kids there who have talent… and I also thought my dribbling was particularly good today!”

Centre-back Ostermeier also enjoyed the change from the daily training routine.
“It was super fun, it was something different and for the kids it’s something really special. The joy when we came in was huge. […] “I can imagine how special it is for the children. It’s even nicer when we can make them happy with a visit like this.”

Afterwards, Amiri and Ostermeier fulfilled all the children’s autograph requests and posed for photos together. Bayer 04 mascot Brian the Lion also mingled with the primary school children and made their eyes light up.
City Manager Adomat: “Bayer 04 is part of the city’s culture”
Leverkusen’s city director Marc Adomat drew a positive conclusion after the extraordinary AG lesson.
“The children were totally enthusiastic and the professionals were great. To be continued,” he said: “Something like this in the middle of the district is incredibly important. Because Bayer 04 is simply part of our city culture.”

The young students still have another highlight to come: they will receive free tickets for the Bundesliga home game of the Werkself against Freiburg on Sunday, 29 October and will support Amiri and Co. up close in the stadium.
