Barça Foundation to repeat ‘It’s Christmas all year’ but in online format
The Barça Foundation is repeating the ‘It’s Christmas All Year’ idea as part of the ‘For Paediatric Wellbeing’ programme after a season halted by the Covid-19 pandemic. The project has been adapted to an online format to ensure that children in hospital can continue to enjoy the excitement of meeting the stars.
The first meeting of the season at midday on Monday involved seven children from Hospital Germans Trias in Badalona enjoying an online guided tour of the Palau Blaugrana with none other than Barça’s basketball captain Pierre Oriola. At the end of the tour, the children were able to speak to the player, sharing questions and special moments with their hero.
The resumption of the programme will involve all of the professional athletes at FC Barcelona appearing in online meetings with children at different hospitals in Catalonia.
The visit forms part of the Foundation’s Paediatric Wellbeing Programme, which seeks to foster emotional wellbeing among hospitalised children by providing positive emotions.
Following the outbreak of the pandemic, the Barça Foundation has adapted a large part of the programme to online formats. During lockdown it organised Meet and Greets between child patients at Hospital Sant Joan de Déu and players from the club’s different professional teams. On behalf of the basketball team, Victor Claver was able to converse online with Ona, a 9-year-old patient who is a huge Barça fan.
