Awards for Aberdeen FCCT-members
It was a highly successful night for Aberdeen FC Community Trust at the Aberdeen Sport Awards 2016 om October 12. Congratulations to Kieran Henderson who won Junior Coach of the Year and to Len Nicol who was highly commended for his Outstanding Commitment. Both Len and Kieran are indispensable members of the AFCCT team and play a key role in delivering football to the community. Len has been involved with football in Aberdeen for over 30 years, making a massive impact on so many people throughout this time.
Len extremely deserves this recognition, without his commitment and involvement, football in Dyce would be nowhere near where it is currently and hundreds of young people would not have had the opportunity to play weekly organised football in a fun, safe environment. Len has had a massive impact on hundreds of young people’s lives, including players which have had professional careers such as Russell Anderson.
17-year-old volunteer football coach Kieran has dedicated over 500 hours of his time to AFCCT. His development, commitment and desire to help others through football is nothing short of inspirational.
Kieran has autism and faces different challenges every day in progressing his career as a young coach. Despite this, Kieran has never once let his condition affect him or stop him from getting to where he is today. He is an inspiration to other young people who aspire to be a coach. Kieran motivates and engages with young people though coaching with his energy, enthusiasm and desire to be the best coach he can be and his commitment to giving back to those who have helped him is something to be proud of for someone so young in their career.
