Athletic Bilbao wins Fair Play trophy of LaLiga Genuine
After seven months of weekly training and competition, Athletic Club Foundation has won the title that counts the most in LaLiga Genuine. The team won the Fair Play trophy with 356 points for its sportsmanship, respect and Fair Play in each of the games it has played on the field throughout the season.
This is a magnificent achievement because this competition is seen as an example of integration and social inclusion in the world of football and the recognition achieved by the Athletic Club Foundation reflects the spirit and sense of LaLiga Genuine in a perfect way. The last day of the tournament, as well as the closing ceremony and the trophy presentation, was held at the Ciudad Deportiva Valencia CF last weekend.
The players coached by Eli Ibarra, Esteban Feijoo and Diego Feijoo, continue to represent some of the values with which the red and white fans identify most. The pride that they transmit dressed in the official clothes of Athletic Club is the same pride that the fans feel when they meet them. The pride spreads naturally, almost inevitably, because it is a pride which is genuine and authentic. Athletic Club identifies itself fully with the foundation’s team that projects the image of companionship and sportsmanship.
Special training for people with cerebral palsy
The team in LaLiga Genuine is not the only project of Athletic Club Foundation in the field of disability sports. Recently, the foundation organised two special sessions for people with cerebral palsy in Lezema.
Cerebral palsy football is a form of football played by athletes who suffer from cerebral palsy or acquired brain damage. The neurological disorders of cerebral palsy affect body movements and the coordination of muscles to a different degree, conditioning their functional capacity. Athletic Club Foundation, in collaboration with the associations Haszten, Aita Menni and Bidaideak, has organised two pilot training sessions for this type of football in order to evaluate its implementation in view of the activities planned for next season. The objective would be to organise a football training for people with cerebral palsy or brain damage on a weekly or fortnightly basis.
