Aston Villa TeamWork project launches

The Aston Villa Foundation are delighted to announce the launch of TeamWork, a new project which aims to bring Villa fans and the wider community together to help improve their mental and physical health.

The country as a whole faces the biggest health crisis of recent times and thanks to funding by the Premier League and the Professional Footballers Association, the TeamWork project will support mental health and wellbeing by working alongside local and national stakeholders, supporting people digitally, remotely and in person.

The TeamWork project will facilitate activities and challenges including walking, cycling and running groups, working alongside existing fan-led initiatives such as the Villa Running Club, to encourage activity and wellbeing activities during the current lockdown and beyond.

The programme will include virtual meet-ups, encourage communication and share resources to offer support and information on current topics and issues which may have a negative impact on our wellbeing during these challenging times.

“The past 12 months have been a difficult period for everyone, the mental health of the nation has been greatly affected as a result of the pandemic. Over the next three years, TeamWork will support as many people as we can – local people and the wider Villa Family through supporting and connecting with others, encouraging physical activity and other ways that can support with our mental wellbeing.”
