Aston Villa Foundation Sign Muslim Athlete Charter
Aston Villa is pleased to announce the Club has signed the Muslim Athlete Charter, demonstrating its continued commitment to equality and diversity for all.
The Charter’s purpose is to recognise Muslim needs not just at the Club but in the wider game and also includes a checklist addressing Muslim players’ needs.
With an increase of Muslim players in the profession as well as support from Muslim supporters, Aston Villa have adopted the Charter to listen, learn and embrace good practice to not only help their players flourish but to make their supporters feel valued and welcomed.
This pledge is a part of Aston Villa’s ongoing work around Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and is an important part of the process of understanding and growth.
“We believe that signing the Muslim Athlete Charter is an integral part of our work in providing support to our Muslim players and supporters. By understanding the Muslim faith and cultural needs, we can become more inclusive, welcoming and make everyone feel truly valued and appreciated at Aston Villa.”
