Aston Villa Family donated to EFDN Ukraine appeal
The Aston Villa Foundation is working with football clubs across Europe to help appeal for donations to be sent to Ukraine.
The football community is coming together alongside organisers from Ukrainian top-flight club Shakhtar Donetsk, who are helping set up and run an emergency ‘Shelter Centre’ at Lviv Stadium in Lviv. Lviv Stadium is in western Ukraine – where many left homeless by the devastating conflict have already fled. The Shelter Centre will seek to support and accommodate many of these people as they try to escape the horrors sweeping their country. The need for safe refuge is becoming rapidly more desperate as terrified people flee war-torn towns and cities across the country. However, with few safe havens remaining, Shakhtar, alongside local authorities, are utilising the Lviv Stadium to open its doors to those in need.
To succeed the club asked their Villa family and the local community, if possible, to donate items from the following:
Blankets, pillows, linen sheets, disposable sheets, toilet paper, disposable towels, liquid soap, antiseptics, women’s personal hygiene items, disposable baby nappies for various age groups, garbage bags (60 litres), large textile towels, long-term storage snacks (biscuits, cookies, packaged tea, instant coffee sachets, selection of bars or cereals, nuts, chocolate), formula for children of different age groups (0 to 6 years old), baby food (vegetable and fruit purees, ready-made porridges, meat purees, etc), dressing, bandages and first-aid kits.
People were able to drop off donations at The Villa Village at Villa Park (B6 6HE) during the following dates and times:
Tuesday, March 29 – 1-4pm
Wednesday, March 30 – 9am-12noon
Thursday, March 31 – 5-8pm
After the deadline, the essential items are now being sent via Poland to the emergency ‘Shelter Centre’ in Lviv. Aston Villa player visited and showed his support for the campaign.
