Apollon Limassol Highlight #Morethanfootball Action Weeks at European Fixture
Cypriot club Apollon Limassol, a member of the European Football for Development Network (EFDN), will be promoting the #Morethanfootball Action Weeks tonight at GSP stadium ahead of their UEFA Europa League third qualifying round match against Lech Poznan from Poland.
Currently, 80+ clubs, leagues and FAs are taking part in the 2020 Action Weeks. The Apollon Limassol squad will pose behind a #Morethanfootball banner to promote the month-long campaign celebrating and showcasing community and social responsibility activities in Europe. It follows similar action a week ago when PAOK FC and SL Benfica officially kicked off the #Morethanfootball Action Weeks at Toumba stadium in Thessaloniki, Greece ahead of their UEFA Champions League qualifying third round match.
Club forward Charlison Beschop recently participated in the #Morethanfootball challenge as seen in the above photo. Apollon Limassol implement a variety of programmes on education and inclusion issues among others. The club is part of the EFDN and UEFA Foundation Welcome Through Football programme that fosters the social inclusion of young and newly arrived immigrants and refugees. The project also assists coaches and youth workers in developing and sharing of effective methods in reaching out to the marginalised groups in preventing racism and intolerance.
