Apollon Limassol FC’s social work never takes a day off
The social work of Apollon Limassol FC never stops. as well as our Welcome Through Football programme in which the club is participating for the last few years.
The weekly sessions continue as usual every Wednesday, with the action not only limited to football but also extended to other activities.
On 29 June, The Pizza Hut restaurant in Germasoyia welcomed the children involved in the programme. After enjoying their delicious dinner, the children then had fun in the restaurant’s outdoor area and playground.
On 6 July, a delegation from Apollon Limassol FC accompanied the children of the program to the beach in order to have fun and further bond the children among themselves. The children left their daily problems behind for a while, they were having fun and having a good time. We would like to thank the management of Pizza Hut for their hospitality and for their cooperation.
Welcome Through Football
Welcome Through Football is an EFDN initiative. Current projects across Europe receive funding from the Eramus+ programme of the European Union and the UEFA Foundation for Children.
The Welcome Through Football 2021 project aims to assist in the integration and inclusion of recently arrived young refugees, asylum seekers and young people with a migrant background. EFDN and partners will develop and test a European methodology that uses football as a tool to reach refugees and migrants of different ages (7-25 years old) to get them physically and socially active in European communities.
Moreover, the project assists football coaches and youth workers in the development and sharing of effective methods in reaching out to the marginalised target group, in preventing racism and intolerance.
