Amazing moments for Aaron in Philadelphia
A young boy from Philadelphia enjoyed two special days courtesy of the Chelsea Foundation and the Premier League during Chelsea’s pre-season tour of the USA.
Aaron, who was suddenly diagnosed with a brain tumour at the age of four and had to undergo seven months of arduous treatment, was first invited to meet Chelsea legend Gary Cahill, along with current players Ian Maatsen and Diego Moreira, as patients from Philadelphia Hospital joined a community event at U90 Soccer Center.
Cahill, Maatsen and Moreira were immediately drawn to Aaron after he gave them all wristbands in support of his story.
The four-year-old was then invited to Chelsea’s fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion, which took place at Lincoln Financial Field as part of the Premier League Summer Series.
Not only did he get to meet the trio once again, Aaron was also greeted by Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino and watched the team warm-up pitchside, with Maatsen and Moreira wearing their wristbands throughout.
Gary Cahill, who was also wearing the wristband Aaron gave him the previous day, then surprised him with a poster signed by the entire men’s team squad.
“I want to thank the Chelsea Foundation and the Premier League so much for an amazing couple of days. It has been a rough year for Aaron and all of our family so these moments have been really healing and it was fantastic for Aaron and for us to be treated to such a special experience.”
