Alcoraz Foundation reinforces their commitment to reforestation

The Alcoraz Foundation and ICT, the leading tissue paper manufacturing group, through its Foxy brand, are relaunching the ‘Play your paper’ initiative. A reforestation project which last year repopulated three hectares in Huesca, Zaragoza and Teruel. On this occasion, they are strengthening their commitment by taking the initiative to a national level and doubling the number of trees planted. The agreement between both entities will be extended to three years, with three plantations each year with 1,000 trees in each one.

In this first year, the plantations will begin this December in Pina de Ebro (Zaragoza). The next two will be carried out in the provinces of Zamora and Guadalajara, with the timing depending on the weather.

The repopulation will be carried out with plants and trees suitable for each area and will rely, once again, on CO2Gestión as the supplier of the gardening services necessary to develop the project.

The Alcoraz was the venue for the initiative’s renewal ceremony on Wednesday, which was attended by Manuel Torres, president of SD Huesca, Juanjo Camacho, head of CSR projects at the Alcoraz Foundation, and José Luis Pérez Quintana, general manager of ICT Ibérica, among others.

“We are delighted to be here again after an excellent first experience. In fact, we have set an example and our headquarters in Italy has emulated us with a similar project. In this way, we try to give back to the environment everything that the environment gives us. Having the Foundation as the driving force behind a project of these characteristics is a luxury and helps us towards our goal of being a one hundred percent sustainable company,”

José Luis Pérez Quintana, general manager of ICT Ibérica

For his part, Juanjo Camacho expressed his gratitude for the trust “of a company like ICT in us, which makes us grow as a Foundation” and stressed “the importance” of complying with the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals set out in the 2030 Agenda in the fight against climate change.

“In this way, together, we are all doing our bit in the fight against global warming. Our goal is to look for areas affected by fires, and we are ambitious, we know it is difficult, but we would like to reach La Palma,”
