AFC Wimbledon brought donations for Ukraine to EFDN

Yesterday (06 April), on International Day for Sport for Development and Peace, the delegation of the EFL club AFC Wimbledon and AFC Wimbledon Foundation dropped off donations for the people in Ukraine at the EFDN headquarters in Breda.

The club responded in a magnificent way to EFDN’s appeal to help Ukraine and brought a lorry full of goods to support the emergency ‘shelter centre’ of EFDN member Shakhtar Donetsk in Lviv, Ukraine.

Previously, EFDN had launched a request for humanitarian aid to football clubs, leagues and associations across Europe to support the centre which is meant to help refugees.

The donated goods such as sleeping bags and first-aid kits will now be brought to Polish football club and EFDN member Legia Warsaw, and their charitable arm Legia Foundation, who offered their stadium as a collection and distribution centre for these priority items. From there, Shakthar Donetsk will arrange for the items to be delivered to the Lviv Stadium. EFDN acts as coordinator for all clubs, leagues, Football Associations and fan groups that are willing to support this initiative.

Many thanks to the whole AFC Wimbledon Community and to Joe Palmer and Philip Rudling for their precious time to bring all the donated materials to the Netherlands and of course, to the fans who donated all the materials!
