AEK Athens wore the special purpose #WeFightCovid Jersey at the start of Play-Off match
On Sunday the 7th of June, AEK returned back to competitive action in the Super League Play-Off match against Panathinaikos, at the Olympic Stadium of Athens. After, a total of 95 days, due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
The AEK Athens players, when they entered the pitch before the start of the match with Panathinaikos, wore the collector’s special purpose jersey, which has the #SupporterofEachOther logo on the sleeve. The aim of which is to raise awareness of our international Supporter of Each Other campaign and all initiatives taken in the battle to overcome the global crisis, caused by COVID-19. The jersey also has #WeFightCovid, number 21 on the back.
The jersey can be purchased on the club’s official E-shop here. Part of the revenues made will contribute to the fight against the spread of COVID-19.
Before Kick-Off, the players of both teams knelt symbolically against racism in memory of George Floyd and a minute of silence was held in memory of the deaths related to COVID-19.
ΑΕΚ FC drew 1-1 to Panathinaikos FC in matchday 1 of Play-Off round of Super League Greece 2019-20. With, Federico Macheda scoring the opener for Panathinaikos after 65 mins. Followed by COSMOTE MVP Marko Livaja, who equalised for AEK in the 75th minute.
