ADO Den Haag Auti Football Teams at PEC Kicks Ass Tournament

On Sunday 11 December 2022, the ADO Den Haag Auti football team played its first tournament at PEC Zwolle with two teams, an ADO youth and ADO minis team.

At half past eight in the morning, fifteen players and players’ families gathered at the Bingoal Stadium, where the Van Heugten Tours bus was already waiting. After the group photo in front of the bus and the stadium, the group left for a trip of almost two hours to Zwolle. Bus driver Ben brought everyone safely to Sporthal Het Anker and back later in the afternoon!

PEC Zwolle United organised the PEC Kicks ASS Tournament for children with autism spectrum disorder. Five teams participated in the mini’s and six teams had signed up for the youths. Between matches, there was also room for side-events where participants could shoot at a hole cloth or measure the speed of their shot.

The ADO minis played their first official matches in the hall and clearly had to get used to each other. Coach Rania did everything possible to put everyone in the right place. Fortunately, goalkeeper Rik was on top form and kept many balls out of the goal.
However, the opponents vv Berkum, Slikkerveer and PEC Zwolle were a size too big. Devanio, Julia and Liam scored beautiful goals, which were greeted with much enthusiasm! After the matches, there was a round of applause for all players during the ‘team-hug’!

The ADO youngsters started the tournament confidently and excellently with one draw and two wins against FC RDC, Glimmen and Slikkerveer through fine team play and good goalkeeping by Tobias. In the last two games, the engine faltered and they lost unnecessarily to vv Berkum and PEC Zwolle. In the end, ADO Den Haag finished in a great third place under the guidance of coach Julien!

The awards ceremony took place in the canteen and PEC Zwolle player Dean Huiberts handed out medals to the participants. The ADO juniors and minis behaved like real ADO Den Haag players towards their opponents, with captains Sebastiaan and Devanio setting a good example!
