AC Sparta auctions retro shirts to support nurses
AC Sparta played a match against České Budějovice in retro jerseys to commemorate the 127th anniversary of the club’s founding. This time, it is a red jersey, reminiscent of the 1930s, when the club dominated not only in the domestic league but also in Europe. The Belgian player Raymond Braine shone in Sparta at the time. The historic jersey is decorated with a white shoelace and the historic logo with a star.
Even though the club was not happy with the performance during the match and the result, it wants to use its appeal to collect money for nurses. Each shirt is available in an auction online and can be bought with a signature of the player who wore it. Past auction proceeds went to the ACS, a fund helping former Sparta players with health and social needs. However, because of 2020 being a challenging year, the entire proceeds of the auction will go to the project ‘Pomáháme sestřičkám’. The club, together with Slavia, has already sent proceeds of the spring derby to the project. During the second wave of the pandemic, nurses put their own health second which is why the club wants to show them its gratitude. The jerseys can be auctioned here.
