A successful pilot for special training sessions in The Hague
Children participated in a special session of the ‘ADO Den Haag in de Wijk’ on the Cruyff Court located at Tref. Eibernest in Morgenstond. Every week, 10 to 25 children train here together with social coaches of ADO Den Haag. The exercises during the last session were linked to the social theme ‘Health’.
The participants were a bit surprised when they heard that the coaches were going to test their knowledge on the subject of health. After the warm-up, the players were making a race in the form of a dribble track with running ladders. The coaches mentioned a product, after which the participants had to score on the target ‘Healthy’ or ‘Unhealthy’. If the player made the right choice, the team got a point. This is how the children learned that tuna and unsalted nuts are definitely healthy.
Next, each participant received a ball and was instructed to dribble through the court. The trainer made a statement about ‘the life of a professional footballer’, after which the participants had to score ‘True’ or ‘False’ in goal. Some players thought that 3 hours of sleep in the night before an important match was enough. In the end, one participant went home with a prize from ADO Den Haag.
With these training sessions, ADO Den Haag in de Maatschappij wants to create awareness about certain social themes among the participants. The last session focused on healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle.
The social theme training sessions are part of a new project of ADO Den Haag in de Maatschappij. In addition to the training sessions at the Krajicek Playgrounds and Cruyff Courts, test sessions will soon be held at clubs and schools in the region.
